Jim Schofield started half an hour later than everybody else. He had a new pole with him but had left the tips in another bag - or so he thought! He subsequently borrowed another pole from Ray which was promptly 'snapped' on the first cast by a carp or a catfish. He then decided to go home and fetch the tips that he had left behind only to remember that he had in fact put them. in another bag the night before and that they were in fact with him all the time! It's what's known as a 'senior moment'. Ellen also had a new pole with her and christened it early on with a nice roach.

20th October

The venue this week was at Asprokremnos for an open match. In first place was Lance Chubb with 261bs 12ozs; in second place was Jim Schofield with 241bs and in third place was EIIen O'Meara with 141bs. The pairs were won by Jim & Derek T with a combined weight of 371bs 08ozs. 13 members fished and the total weight caught was 1381bs 12ozs. Lance had 4 bass in his catch and Vic landed a nice carp on his secret bait! At the end of the match the heron zoomed in to collect his tea. A big thank you to whoever has been to clean up the rubbish. All the bags of rubbish have disappeared - what a difference it makes to the ambience of the dam.

27th October

Back at Asprokremnos for a league match. In first place was Ray Ayre with 20lbs 120zs; in second place was Steve Duckworth with 191bs 8ozs and in third place was Tim Newbury with 151bs 4ozs. The pairs were won by Ray & Athos with a combined weight of 351bs 2ozs. 15 members fished and the total weight caught was 1551bs 8ozs. Several large carp were caught this week as well as catfish and small roach. Again, the herons zoomed in as soon as the anglers had weighed their catch and thrown the fish back in.

3rd November

The venue this week was at Polemidhia for an open match. In first place was Steve James with an impressive 341bs 8ozs; in second place was Rod Howard with 181bs 4zs and in third place was Ray Ayre with 181bs 2ozs. The pairs were won by Steve J & Alan B with a combined weight of 521bs 1ozs. 13 members fished and the total weight caught was 1831bs 14ozs. It was good to see Alan back and featuring in the results as he hadn't fished with us for several weeks. It was also good to see Rod in second place. It's always good to see different anglers featuring in the top three. Today was very windy which made fishing difficult - it was likened to Blackpool Beach!

10th November

We were back at Polemidhia for a league match. In first place (again) was Steve James with 211bs 10ozs; in second place was John Sutton with 181bs 15ozs and in third place was Alan Jervis with 151bs 7ozs. The pairs were won by Steve & Athos with a combined weight of 361bs 13ozs. 16 members fished and the total weight caught was 1911bs 8ozs. Species mainly consisted of carp in various sizes. One of our members had problems this week with the water skiing pontoon which he was pegged next to. The pontoon was moving in the water and eventually moved across his peg. He had to secure it to the ground, and with all his 'clattering about', ended up frightening the fish away for a couple of hours! The sun came out early today and stayed with us most of the day which mad~ fishing extra pleasurable. The mess still remains around the dam and is appalling - I suppose we will just have to get used to it as nobody seems to be doing anything about it even though I, and several others, have written to the authorities.
