4th May

The venue this week was at Aspro for an open match. In first place was Ellen O'Meara with 61bs 140zs; in second place was Ch as hunt with 61bs 70zs and in third place was Ray Ayre with 51bs 150zs. Weights caught this week ranged from 10z to nearly 71bs so Ellen did very well. The pairs were won by Ellen & Geoff with a combined weight of 10lbs 90zs. 20 members fished this week which is the highest number this year. The total weight caught was 551bs 90zs. As we have had some more rain, the dams are still very high making it difficult to approach from our usual side. The surroundings are still nice and green! We fished on the opposite side to normal and some of the pegs were much shallower than others. Species caught this week were mainly roach but Peter had a nice Carp weighing 41bs and Chas had a bass weighing approx 2lbs. Roger Lightbrown and Geoff Poole (overseas members) have rejoined and welcome to new member John Davis.

11th May

We were back at Aspro again for a summer league match. In first place was Chas Hunt with 91bs 10z; in second place was Jim Schofield with 61b 40zs and in third place was Geoff Poole with 51bs 40zs. Geoff is one of our overseas members and did very well to feature in last week's match as well as this week. The pairs were won by Chas and John with a combined weight of 101bs. Only 12 members fished this week and the total weight caught was 40lbs 60zs. The numbers were down as the festival had started and 4 of our members were fishing in the first week of the festival. The temperature at 6am this morning was 22 degrees and by mid-day it was 32 degrees! There is always a nice breeze coming off the dam so the anglers were kept cool. There were a million midges when we arrived but they seemed to disappear once the sun came up. Unfortunately we will not be seeing Ray Ayres fishing for a while as he has had to have major surgery to his knee. All t he best Ray for a speedy return to fishing.

18th May

The venue this week was at Evretou for a practice match. In first place was Chas Hunt with 191bs; in second place was Rod Howard with 151bs 30zs and in third place was Lance Chubb with 10lbs 140zs. The pairs were won by Ch as & Danny with a combined weight of 211bs. 13 members fished and the total weight caught was 681bs 30zs. Again, the numbers were down as it was the second week of the festival and our resident member Jim Schofield had joined them.

25th May

We were back at Evretou for a summer league match. In first place was Andy Harding (one of our overseas members) with an impressive 241bs 30zs; in second place was Richard Grove with 91bs 50zs and in third place was Steve James with 81bs 120zs. The pairs were won by Andy & Rod with a combined weight of 261bs 150zs. 19 members fished and the total weight caught was 781bs 90zs.

International Fishing Festival in Limassol

This was a very well organised event which took place at 4 different venues - Germosegia, Polemidhia, Kouris and Asprokremnos dams. 5 of our club members fished in this festival and our congratulations go to Simon Levy (club member) who won every match the first week and two out of four the second week. Also fishing the festival were club members Steve Duckworth, Brian Beswick, Roger Lightbrown and Jim Schofield. Congratulations to all of them as they all did well.
