Enough of my ramblings and on to the matches fished in November. Tuesday the 6th was our usual open saw 15 anglers

Fishing at Asprokremnos Dam for a total of 176lb. An angler of outstanding abilities and undeniable modesty (what a load of bull!!!), namely myself, managed to finish on top with silver bream and catfish for a total of 25lb, second was the ever consistent Richard Grove with a similar bag but less carp for 17lb 12oz, and third was Jon Harbron with a very credible bag of silver fish for 9lb 12oz. The pairs were won by Chas and Jon.

The 13th brought us back to the same dam for the first match of the winter league, Lance Chubb was the winner with 14lb, second was Ray Ayre with 11lb 8oz and again showing thir consistency Jon Harbron and Richard Grove were joint third with 9lb 12oz each. The pairs were won by Lance and Richard, 17 members fished for a total of almost 100lb.

The final two matches in November were at Everetou Dam, which as readers of last months report will know, comes in at number 11 in my top ten venues!

The first, on 20th was won by Athos ( mister end peg himself!!) with three excellent carp for almost 24lb, the best just under 9lb. The carp do run big at this dam as Athos was Snapped by two more!. Normal weight followed with Jon Harbron continuing his recent outstanding form in second place with 1lb 10oz and Lance Chubb third with 1lb 4oz, Athos and Jackie Blain won the pairs. Yes !! I blanked again for the third time at this venue!!!

No carp were caught in the second leg of the winter league on the 27th and again only four out of seventeen anglers caught fish. First was Lance with two catfish for 1lb 0oz, second was John Sutton with 12oz and third was Collin Farrer with just 5oz. After four matches, that’s 20 hours of fishing at Everetou, I finally broke my duck with the tiniest large mouth bass I have ever seen, which after being credited with 1oz was promptly put back by the the weigh man as the scales would not have registered, even after enduring much stick to the tune of `my bait was bigger than that fish` and `vic uses bigger hooks than that bass` I was content to take fourth place and a section win. The pairs were won by Lance and Sylvia.

The first match in December was an open at Asprokremmos on the 4th, Carp once again showed on the end pegs of the mud spit on our usual match arm at the back of this consistent venue. I don’t have the exact weights at this time due to my very recent return from the uk but the match was won by Rod Howard who is one of our newer members, in second was Peter Heritage on the next peg who managed to land several carp without once falling in the dam or losing/ damaging any of is equipment ( fishing or otherwise! )

The annual fur and feather was on the 11th, held at Aspropkremos dam. Winter results were expected but to our surprise a few carp decided to help us out . I managed to tempt three of them for 8lb but it was not a enough to win the match as the next peg Jon Harbron, the leading angler in the new Simon Emery sponsored league, bagged six of the much sought after species plus a credible quantity of silver fish for a total of 19lb, in third place was the Lancashire legend Ray Ayre with just over 7lb of `bits`. There was no pairs in this match as every angler received a Christmas hamper of assorted goodies from the funds of the Old Fishing Shack Club.

December 18th saw the club back at Polemidhia dam for an open match on this prolific water, although the summer weights were not to be expected , 54lb of prime carp were extracted by our own Ray Ayre ( he belongs to Paphos now not Lancashire! ), in second was John Sutton, another legend of the Cyprus fishing scene, with 32lb 12oz and third was Athos ( legend ! Say no more! ) I was unfortunately back in England solidifying my legend of picking up the wrong pint which for some uncanny reason always belongs to the biggest bloke in the bar!

No more matches were held in December due to Christmas Day Falling on our normal match day of Tuesday 25th.
