3rd February We were back at Asprokremnos dam and were delighted to see that the heavy rains from the previous days had filled the dam by a good few feet. We were unable to use the pegs from the previous week as, together with the 'islands', they were now under water. The morning started off quite chilly but Jim had decided that summer was on its way and he was back to wearing his compulsory pair of shorts. The other anglers gave him quite a bit of stick but by the end of the day Jim was 'best dressed' for the beautiful day that transpired. Roger fished with us this week - he is one of our non-resident members and kept us amused with his usual flow of good craie. In first place this week with a very good weight was Chas Hunt with 121bs 9ozs. This was Chas's 3rd win on the trot - well done Chas. In second place was Steve Duckworth with 61bs 12ozs. Steve is another non-resident member and a very good angler. Third place went to Jim (legs) Schofield with 61bs 1oz. The pairs were won by Chas & Roger with a combined weight of 171bs 14ozs. A total of 12 anglers fished and caught a combined weight of 511bs 15ozs. On our exit we noticed that the last remaining island had disappeared confirming our thoughts that the dam was filling up even as we fished. 10th-February - Match cancelled
17th-February The venue this week was Polemidhia where 14 anglers fished with a total weight of 1411bs 4ozs. The conditions were very windy and most anglers fished on the tip catching some good carp. Steve Duckworth was first with 291bs 4ozs, second was Peter Heritage with 211bs 12ozs. Well done Peter, he had some really nice carp. Third place went to Ray Ayre with 161bs 9ozs. Two anglers blanked and the weights were quite varied. The fish are not really feeding very well at the moment as the water is quite cold. The pairs were won by Steve & Brian with a combined weight of 411bs 5ozs. Brian is another overseas member and always does well.
24th February - cancelled due to bad weather conditions.
On Sunday a few of our members enjoy 'pleasure' fishing. It is also a time when the 'illegais' like to fish. A lot of them do not have licences and always fish with more than one rod plus more than one hook on each. (They also take the fish from the dams which is not allowed at Polemidhia). We would like to say thank you to the Fisheries Department who turned up on Sunday and asked to see everybody's licence. They confiscated the tackle belonging to the 'illegals' which I believe is returned after the payment of the fine which is imposed.
We are still battling our way through the rubbish tip which surrounds the dam at Polemidhia. Hopefully, one day the authorities will clear this dumping ground and return the dam to its natural beauty.
